Crystal Learns Spanish

When life gives you lemons... make lemonade. When work gives you the ultimatum... go to Costa Rica to learn Spanish! My mom says my life "is a do-over". Im not so sure about that. But the opportunity has come in my mid 30's to do something I’ve dreamt of for years; travel abroad and learn the Spanish language. This blog is for my friends and family to enjoy the tales of my experience.

Friday:
Spanish Level: Today is my last day at school in Quepos. I have learned a lot of new things this week. I hope my new school will be as good.

Today is Kelly’s birthday. I brought a cake for her so she wouldn’t feel so “lonely”, I know she misses her friends a lot (she’s turning 19 today). So I asked everyone to get together after class for the cake. When we went downstairs, two of the teachers had cooked a big lunch for all of us and we had a party. They sang happy birthday to Kelly and then to me too. It was a really nice surprise and they gave us a present too, a little basket with some chocolate and a bear in it. I know they don’t do this for every student so it was very special.

After the party a lady was at the school doing pedicures, so Kelly and I each got one for about $4 (in the sates this costs $20) and she comes to YOU! It was fun and the lady doing it knows Wilbert.

That afternoon I went to the vet with Stephanie to pick up Kimba. The vet was there but he didn’t have time for us today so we have to come back tomorrow. No problem there for me, he’s very easy on the eyes… and I get to practice my Spanish, too bad he’s married.

For my last night in Quepos, we went out to Dos Locos to see the guy from last weekend play guitar. He was pretty drunk or something by the time we got there, or maybe he just had a bad day… so his show wasn’t as fun this time, but he was still an awesome guitar player. Thomas, a guy I met a few weeks ago, working for the fund for Costa Rica came by and had a beer with us. Then we went down to Wacky Wanda’s where we met two sisters traveling together. One of them had traveled all over the world and we talked to them for a while. They were very interesting and nice. I really feel like I live here now, I don’t want to leave.
